World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item lets players boost an item's gear rating up 700 points, and then give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats such as the chance to crit, attack damage, PvE and damage from PvP. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Many weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to rise until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of the base. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. In the case of items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
It is possible to upgrade armor items to boost their stats. This will increase the defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will gain upon upgrading and their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button on the item menu, using the circling arrows. This will roll the item and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind to account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make an enormous difference in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons, fire, and magic. This can make it easier to get through difficult terrains. The more defense your character has, the more value you get out of each point of health you have and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as possible.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and to unlock each one you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each will vary. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid conditions with a large group of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your friends.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also gain advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the chest armor and helmets so that you can get around a few monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, if consumed, provide the user with an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a craft table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not be degraded until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for instance have now a duration of that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display. The potion table is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. The same applies to the use of a potion in an empty cauldron. This will draw out the potion, and refill the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions that are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to extend their effects. The table of potions has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added like the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an object or ornament that serves a function but isn't important as a thimble. In item upgrades , a trinket is used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets like other items which can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.
The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades to trinkets are an economical alternative to buying new ones. It can be done by a player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they're no longer needed, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
